Sandomierz – Krzyztopor Szczawnica – Zakopane
Szczawnica

Departure towards the south of Poland. Stop at Krzytopor Castle. The ruins of this castle are full of magic and mystery, lost among the fields and hills of the Opatow region, far from the main roads and routes. It is a monument of international class, unique, although very damaged. Built in the years 1631-1644, Krzyztopor Castle was the largest palatial building in Europe until the construction of Versailles. The dining room ceiling was supposedly made of glass, and revelers had the opportunity to see exotic fish swimming over them during meals. It is nicknamed "callendario castle" because it had 356 windows as days in a year, 56 rooms as weeks in a year, 12 large chambers as months, 4 towers as stations. Continuation to Szczawnica. The city is located in the picturesque Grajcarek Valley, the right bank tributary of the Dunajec River, between Male Pieniny and the Radziejowa mountain range. Szczawnica is primarily a popular and appreciated spa, famous for its mineral waters. The favorable conditions here result from the city's location on the border of two geological units: the rocky belt of Pieniny made of limestone and the flysch of Beskid made of shale and sandstone. Two-thirds of the city's surface is covered with forests that provide a unique microclimate, shelter from the wind, and clean, healthy air. The town is surrounded by protected areas with numerous natural and scenic values. Free time to take advantage of the microclimate, the views and the mineral waters. Transfer to Zakopane. Overnight at the hotel. Night in Zakopane.

Optional: Horse Carriage Ride in Zakopane.

Optional: Dinner in a typical restaurant in Zakopane with a folk group show.

The Polish part of the Tatras is part of the Tatra National Park, which is inscribed on the list of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. Pope John Paul II frequently visited the area for hiking and skiing. During our walk through Zakopane with the guide we will visit Krupowki, the main street of the city full of crafts and regional folklore. In the city, known as the winter capital, its peculiar architecture stands out, known as the “Zakopanian” style, with its traditional wooden constructions from the end of the 19th century. With the growth of Krakow, Kazimierz became one of its neighbourhoods. Keeping the character a little different for its typical market squares, synagogues or Jewish cemeteries. Tradition and typical customs are maintained in the neighbourhood. That's why Steven Spielberg decided to shoot his famous Oscar-winning film Schindler's List at Kazimierz. During our trip you will have the opportunity to know history, monuments and an impressive culture in a part of Krakow still little known by tourists. In the afternoon excursion to Auschwitz - Birkenau, the largest ex-extermination camp. The global symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust. Built by the Germans in 1940 on the outskirts of the city called Oświęcim, the region that during Hitler's army occupation was the place of greatest sacrifice of people belonging to different countries of Europe (mainly people of Jewish origin). Today the field works as a museum. It is one of the places included in the UNESCO list. Visiting that place will help you understand the history of the s. XX in Europe. Return to Krakow.
